How I got here

Here's the unfiltered version: I really love money. Not in a hoarding-it-under-the-mattress way, I love investing it, growing it, spending it, and talking about it more than is probably normal at a dinner party.

I was diagnosed with ADHD at 15, and spent years thinking I was just introverted before realizing what I was actually doing was masking, a survival skill a lot of neurodivergent people develop without ever being told it has a name. That's part of why plain language and zero shame aren't just brand values for me, they're personal ones.

My path here wasn't a straight line through a finance degree. I learned the real mechanics of running a business the hard way, working through college for a small apparel company, mentored by a woman named Sheryl Page who taught me more about bookkeeping, production, and real numbers than any classroom did. I bought my first house the month I turned 20, still working, still learning, and spent the next several years moving through small businesses, picking up production management, payroll, and financial operations everywhere I went.

One of the biggest lessons came from a boss who had plenty of money and somehow still couldn't keep payroll funded on time. It taught me that money problems are rarely just about the money. More of it doesn't fix a bad relationship with it.

For years, I watched good business owners make plenty of money and still feel like they were behind, not because they were doing anything wrong, but because nobody had ever taught them what to do with it once it started coming in. Then in March 2020, right as the pandemic hit, I was laid off from a job I'd been told was secure, exactly three years to the day I'd started it. That was the moment I stopped building The Freelance CFO® on the side and went all in: a company built on everything I'd loved about the best bosses I'd ever had, and none of what I couldn't stand about the worst ones.

Beyond the firm
Somewhere along the way, those same conversations started feeling too important to keep inside client meetings. That's how the speaking side of my work started, and also how Wealth Witches®, my podcast on money and intuition, came to be. Today I lead a growing community of neurodivergent, queer, and creative entrepreneurs who are done with cookie-cutter financial advice and ready to build something that actually fits their life.
